Once upon a time ... (not so long ago)

Global Wind Power came into being in 2000, on Thursday, 31 August, to be precise. This was the day when Henrik Amby Jensen, who had worked with wind turbines since 1996, officially founded the company.

As a natural consequence of the rapid expansion of our activities in the German market, we established the subsidiary Global Wind Power Deutschland GmbH in the beginning of 2003. Since then we have been monitoring a number of markets that we consider to have great potential in either the short or the long term.

Today, Global Wind Power is one of the leading suppliers of wind turbine projects - a position built on professionalism, empathy and a great deal of experience. In fact, our founder, Henrik Amby Jensen, has been involved in the construction and/or establishment of more than 200 wind turbines in Denmark and abroad.

Over the past 10 years, wind turbines have become bigger and taller. Just a few years ago, the largest turbines generated 600 kW of power. Today, 2 MW (2000 kW) wind turbines are a common sight, and development shows no signs of stopping. Therefore, flexibility and the ability to find new approaches to financing, etc. are crucial to the players in our markets. This is precisely why Global Wind Power A/S is set to make a significant mark on the development of wind power in the years to come.
